Mountain Travel and Rescue

The NSP Mountain Travel and Rescue (MTR) and Avalanche Programs enhance the student's ability to travel and work safely in the outdoor environment to provide assistance and/or leadership in search and rescue situations.

The progressive range of courses builds the student’s knowledge and skills to travel and work in measured safety in an outdoor environment and avalanche terrain. Field practice includes avalanche beacon use, avalanche forecasting, avalanche rescue, low angle rescue, basic navigation, Winter travel, emergency survival, and an introduction to search and rescue.
